The Revered Dreamer
A character bust I designed and sculpted in ZBrush: a calm, faraway dreamer with big eyes, long pointed ears and a hooked nose.

01Brief
My own character: a mystic who seems to live half in his dreams. The goal was for the shape of his head to tell you who he is before any detail does.
02Process
I designed and sculpted the bust in ZBrush, pushing the big eyes, long pointed ears and hooked nose, and checked it from the front, the side and the back.
03Challenge
The nose: long and hooked, stylised, but without taking over the whole face.
04Learnings
- The skull, eye sockets and cheekbones decide how a face reads, even on a creature.
- Big, simple forms tell you who someone is before any detail does.
- You can push the nose, ears and eyes a long way, as long as the face still holds together.
- A head that looks right from the front can fall apart from the side, so it has to work from every angle.
